My New Favorite Everyday Foundation

Evening, ladies and gents!

Ok, I know I called this a foundation, but I don’t really know what to call this product.

Basically, the Label Young Shocking ZZ Cream is a miracle in a bottle! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

Honestly, I’d never heard of the brand or the cream and when I saw it in the Memebox store, I was curious.

Here I am with my absolute favorite base makeup product for everyday ^_^!

What exactly is ZZ cream?

Good question!

Because I had no idea either until I looked it up. ╮(─▽─)╭

Here’s the breakdown: BB + CC + DD + Pore Primer.

BB  – Blemish Balm

CC – Color Correction

DD – Daily Defense (although I can’t for the life of me figure out what it defends against)

Pore Primer – Well, that part’s pretty self-explanatory.

As you probably know by now, I’m a sucker for cute packaging. This is pretty simple, nothing too eye catching.

I do like the tube even though the pumps are my favorite dispensers fore pretty much everything ;).

Just a note, this cream is really quite thick! I would suggest warming it a bit with your fingers before you try to apply it to your face.

It does spread easily enough.

Color Selection:

There are only two shade options available: #21 and #23. Since this looks like some sort of standard in Korea, I stuck with #23. I do tend to lose my tan in the winter, but I highly doubt I will get that light. (~ ̄▽ ̄)~

Now to the most important part! I’ve made you read enough I think.

As you can see, I still haven’t corrected my sleep patterns.

OH WELL! That’s what concealer is for.

Or just really good ZZ cream! Look at this coverage!

Here’s a closer look:

20141007_180214Awesome, right?!

It’s not quite full coverage, but a nice medium that can be built up easily. I do like that my freckles can be seen through. Full coverage on my face freaks me out!

The pore primer is really nice as well. I feel like it really smoothed my skin!

It did come out a touch lighter than I expected. However, it did adjust quickly.

I’m not sure how much I’ll love it as it get’s colder and I start fighting dry skin, but for now I’m absolutely in LOVE with this ZZ cream.

I know it’s not super well known, but have any of you tried this yet?

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award ^_^

First of all, this award is super adorable!

Sisterhood of the World

I was nominated by Ello Kelsey, Blush and Bluebells, Brittany. Their blogs are seriously awesome and filled with all sorts of fashion and beauty goodness ;).

Because I was nominated by three different blogs, I’m going to choose 10 of the questions so this doesn’t end up a monster of a post. The colors of the questions will correspond to the above link colors so you know who the questions came from.

1. What is your favorite go to look when you’re on the go?

I really prefer a simple look when I’m busy. Blame it on the number of Korean dramas I watch, but I a touch of bb cream, mascara, eyebrows, and a very light blush.

Fresh faced and slightly dewy ^_^

Fresh face Dara

Now, I’m not saying I look like Dara, but a girl’s got to have skincare goals, right? 😉

2. What is your favorite foundation?

I don’t wear a lot of foundation, but I just discovered the Shocking ZZ Cream and I think I’m in love!

3. Describe your personal style.

Lord have mercy, I don’t even know. Cute?

Yes. Cute. I will pretty much wear anything cute. Especially hair accessories ^_^.

4. Where do you buy most of your makeup?

Online. Definitely online. Unless I move to South Korean one day in which case it will be at the individual brand stores ;).

I just prefer the skincare conscious formulations over there. Remember my skin health goal? ^^^

5. Which brand has the best nail polish in your opinion?

Sally Hansen! Oh my goodness, less coats, long lasting, good price…what else could I possibly need in a nail polish?

6. What is your favorite food?

Right now? Probably pho. I’m always down for some good pho :D.

Pho with dad!

That was date night with Daddy back in January. Poor bald guy gets cold easily ;).

7. Do you have a favorite Beauty Blogger, Youtuber, or Instagramer? If so, why?

Yes! Bubzbeauty was the first channel I ever started watching when I first wanted to learn about makeup. I learned so much in those first newbie years from her <3.

8. How long do you spend, on average, doing your makeup everyday?

Like 5 minutes! I work for a church, so I can’t exactly play too much.

9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Honestly, there are so many places! If I could live for 5 years each in Ireland, Scotland, Taiwan, and South Korea I would be over the moon!

10. If you could travel to any time period, where would it be? And why?

As long as it’s only for a visit, I would really like to visit the ancient Celt tribes.

Before Hadrian and all that rot ;).

When I was a teenager, I was absolutely obsessed with Celtic history. I blame my grandmother who made sure I knew that her family hailed from the Cooper clan. And made sure that I pronounced it correctly. She also gets the credit for my discover of Boudica, my favorite woman in all of history.

Boudica statue

Boudica statue 2

Boudica was the most amazing woman ever!

Ok, so I’ve seen this on a ton of blogs, so I’m going to skip out on the nominations segment. Sorry!

I really do appreciate the nominations. Blogging and the blogging community has been and continues to be a great source of happiness for me <3.

Holika Holika Wonder Drawing 24hr Auto Eyebrow Pencil Review

Hello everyone ^_^~~~

I’ve been holding onto this for a while, but I’ve been using this eyebrow pencil for about a month. This is the first time that I’ve used a color this dark and I don’t think I’ll be going back.

At least, not any lighter than a dark brown.

This is the second product that I’ve used from Holika Holika and I think I’m going to have to do some more exploring!

I got this in #1 Grey Black, but there are 3 other colors available.

Unlike their blusher, which you can see in the background, this packaging is super sleek and simple.

I don’t dislike it, but what can I say? I’m a Taurus.

Cute packaging is always welcome! 😀

The end has a spoolie!

That is one of the main reasons I decided to try this one instead of the plethora of other eyebrow pencils on the market.

This is how it looks when you first get it, but since the product is really soft, it ends up being more rounded.

Like I said, the gel is SUPER soft and you don’t have to press very hard to make it show up. In fact, I’ve found that I need to apply this with a feather light touch.

Lasting Power:

Oh my goodness! Holika Holika advertises this as an all day, no smudge product and let me tell you, they aren’t lying!

Even when the rest of my makeup fades, my eyebrows are always strong.

Though, that may not be a good thing ;).

Ok, see why I need to fill in my eyebrows?!

My eyebrows fell victim to my teenage years and I’m still trying to grow them out.

I really love this pencil! It is so easy to use for someone like me who is still a newbie when it comes to filling in my own eyebrows.

This is how I apply it. Since I have to fill in the super sparce inner area, I draw a few short upward strokes to make sure it doesn’t look too fake.

For the rest of my eyebrow I use short, light strokes just to fill in the empty areas. The only long line I apply is underneath to reinforce the shape.

What a difference eyebrows make! Even with simple makeup like this, I feel like having fuller eyebrows just balances my face.

Aaaand you can see all my freckles in this lighting!

But my eyebrows look good ;).

Have you tried this eyebrow pencil?

Facial Massage for a Slimmer and Healthier Face

Good evening Lovelies!

I know the title of this post might sound a bit odd, but facial massage is slowly becoming a popular topic of conversation. I was introduced to this by my Taiwanese mom who practically adopted me during my college years.

The benefits of facial massage are absolutely amazing:

  • Increases blood circulation
  • Decreases swelling or bloating
    • (from improper diet, *cough* Ramen noodles *cough*)
    • You know what I’m talking about college kids
  • Prevent early aging

And with the oil I use, it also provides hydration to dry skin and removes impurities. I would recommend doing this on a day when you didn’t wear makeup. Otherwise, it will get a bit crazy looking!

105_3822Almond oil is my absolute favorite carrier oil for facial massage and oil cleansing. It is very good for soothing inflammation and softening skin. So for all of you with redness, this is for you!

It is important to choose the right carrier oil for your skin, especially if you have acne prone skin. It will take some experimenting.

Also, that little fish like tool is a carved jade stone that is made specifically for facial massage. The energy in jade is supposed to further stimulate blood circulation. You can buy these for under $10 on ebay.

Alright, this is how I woke up this morning! Thanks to my current routine, it’s been pretty clear, but I still deal with a little bit of redness. And I don’t drink enough water. Story of my life! 😉

First things first, you need to apply a generous amount of oil to your face and neck. Don’t worry, carrier oils will not clog your pores!

Start with the middle of your chin in the large groove and LIGHTLY drag the massage tool towards your jaw.

When you get to your jaw, drag the tool down your neck to drain.

Again, be sure to do this lightly! If you press too hard, you can damage your skin and increase the swelling.

Do this 5 more times and then move to the next step.

Just like you did with your jaw line, start in the middle of your face with your cheek bone in the large groove. Drag the tool along your cheek bone to your hairline and then down your face and neck.

Do this 5 more times before moving on to the next step.

With your forehead, start in the middle and lightly drag down the face and neck. This might be a little harder for some people depending on the shape of your forehead and the shape of your massage tool.

Alright, this is one side done so that you can see the difference which is definitely visible on my jawline and cheekbone.

This is after both sides! My jaw looks V shaped now. ^_^

Don’t mind the redness. My face is very sensitive to touch and it will fade very quickly. You will see that in the next few pictures.

When you’re done, massage your face gently to cleanse and soothe your skin!

And there ya go! It’s very easy and relaxing if you do it at night before you go to bed. 🙂

To remove the oil, use a foam or gel cleanser and apply the rest of your skincare.

Have you tried this before? What do you think of facial massage?

Sample Wednesday: Etude House Precious Mineral Cotton Fit BB Cream

So let’s pretend it’s Wednesday, ok? (ι´Д`)ノ

I’m actually kind of excited about this one! This is the first time I’ve really tried a bb cream that was actually suitable for oily/combination skin.

Le gasp!

I know, crazy right? Not even a dewy finish in sight.

Also, I don’t think I’ve ever tried a bb cream from Etude House. I don’t even know how that happened.

105_3794I received this sample in the shade W13 and I really wish that companies let you pick you free sample. You’ll see why.

But hey, it’s free so how much can I actually complain? 😉

This week has been kind of crazy for me and it’s definitely reflecting in my skin. You can see the redness and how dull my skin is right now. It is definitely time to switch over to my winter skincare routine.

And this is where you can see my slight disappointment with the shade. I am a NC 25, but the shade W13 is more suitable for an NC 20. It’s not terrible though.

Look at the coverage on this baby! You can barely see my freckles and the redness is 100% blocked out. And, as an added bonus, my skin looks brighter as well.

Although that might be because the shade is literally brighter?

The lighter shade doesn’t look so drastic now that it’s all over my face. And you can tell it did adjust just a tiny bit.

And look at the finish! It is matte, but not too dull looking. When I was applying the bb cream, it really felt like it was dissolving into a powder and that was really nice.

This would be absolutely perfect for Spring if you have problems with oil!

Oh, and as you can see from around my nose, if you have any dryness this bb cream WILL accentuate it. I wouldn’t recommend this for people with dry skin anyway.

I really love how nice this bb cream looks on my skin! I feel a bit like a doll. The staying power is really wonderful as well. Since it’s not quite Fall here, it was crazy muggy and my makeup didn’t fade at all!

Next Spring, I will definitely be buying this bb cream. In the shade W24 though. 。◕ ‿ ◕。

What do you think? Have any of you tried this bb cream yet?

Aritaum Full Cover Liquid Concealer Concealer #2 Natural Beige

Oh my goodness, it feels like forever since I’ve done a full review of a product! I’m not even sure how that happened.

In any case, I was looking for a good concealer that would actually cover my dark circles. Story of my life! I know there are a lot of you out there always searching for the perfect concealer too!

After about 15 minutes of searching various blogs and youtube channels, it became quite clear that it would be hard to ignore the Aritaum Full Cover line. The reviews are nothing short of wonderful and my favorite seller, Jolse, sells it for only $8.48! You can buy it here if you want to check it out for yourself.

The price was enough for me to decide to purchase the concealer. ^_^

Unlike some of the more vibrantly packaged products, the Aritaum concealer tube is pretty clean and chic. It’s just a simple 25ml plastic tube that is easy to keep in your makeup bag for touch ups – not like you will need those.

I know this is labelled as a liquid concealer, but it is definitely more of a cream. It is very thick!

The thing is, there is a cream concealer in this line. However, this one comes in a pot with both shades of the concealer. I think the difference between the two is probably in the application.

But, hey, I haven’t actually tried the concealer pot, so what can I say? 😉

As far as blendability goes, this product definitely works better with a bit of warming up on your hand. If you don’t it won’t be such a big deal though.  It does blend nicely with other bb creams and foundations, so that is nice.

Just to warn you, close ups of my eye are coming sans makeup! If you are like my first roommate in college who is slightly afraid of pictures of eyes…I’m sorry.

I looked to the side if that helps :D.

Hello, dark circles!

I would like to blame these on the internet. 😉

105_3755Somehow it doesn’t look so bad this close?

Ok, this is how I’ve found that I like to apply this concealer. You really don’t need a lot of this. Just a few little dot’s and blend outwards!

105_3758And tadaaa~~~

A weeks worth of sleep in a bottle! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Really though, how awesome is this concealer?! Even some of my poor freckles got stuck in the crossfire and are concealed

This is after the application of the rest of my makeup. I’m wearing both cc and bb cream on top of the Aritaum concealer. You can even put on the concealer after bb cream if you wanted. I just did it this way to demonstrate.

Needless to say, I’m kind of in love with this! 4.5/5!

The concealer has rose hip oil in it and I can really feel that my skin under my eyes is hydrated throughout the day.

The lasting power is pretty awesome as well. I never have to retouch my concealer! Not even in the freak humidity of the South.

Just a shade note, I am normally an NC 25. After this Summer, I’m slightly into NC 30 and I was afraid that this concealer would be too light. Luckily, it turned out to be perfect. I would say that if you might have trouble with this if you are darker than NC 30.

Ok, here is the reason for the 4.5!

I would like to start of by saying that I have had these 2 fine lines under my eyes since I was about 15. I need a good I cream!

Anyway, this concealer is almost holy grail worthy. But without applying a primer, it creases under the eye. I’ve tried apply less and the result is the same. Be warned!

Other than that, my love affair with this concealer will probably continue for a good long time!

What do you think? Have you tried this before?

Plus Size Fashion: Let’s Pretend It’s Actually Fall

Happy Wednesday!

I know I’ve been completely awol, but Theology school effected my posting more than I thought it would. Goodness.

Luckily it’s only once a month and I now know to have a post ready in advance ;).

In less than a week, the weather here has started to shift towards Fall. Finally ^_^! God heard my prayers! I really cannot operate in the heat.

Granted, it was in the 80s today, but that is progress!

My little sister sneaked this picture this morning and decided it should be included.

It gives a good close up of the hat though! Totally intentional ;).

I feel like I need really big, black framed glasses with this outfit. Is anyone else getting the hipster-esque vibes?

Also, I think I’ve quickly developing an obsession with high waisted skirts!

There are definitely worse things to be addicted to.

Now, I don’t know if you can see, but I definitely have black socks on under my boots. It was still a little warm today so I had them gathered above the top of the shoes.

I like it, but I think the whole outfit looks much more fun with the socks pulled up.

See? I don’t know, it just looks more complete to me this way.

Here’s where I got everything:

  • Hat – handmade (Not by me though. I lack the patience)
  • Tank top – Plato’s Closet
  • Jacket – Plato’s Closet
  • Skirt – Wet Seal
  • Boots – Rainbow

So, what do you think?

Are you looking forward to cooler weather as much as I am?

Flower Cosmetics High Shine Kiss Stick Swatches

Happy Wednesday!

I’m finally doing another part of my Flower Cosmetics swatches! Today, I’m moving on to the high shine kiss sticks.

Picadilo Collage

The color selection for these lipsticks is pretty good, but I think a few of them look pretty similar. I own 3, but there are 9 and only two seem to be bold colors.

Before I get to the swatches, let me just remind you of my natural lip color.

My lips are a dark-ish red/pink. Why does this matter? I’ve found that my lip color can be kind of hard to cover up with some lipsticks. A lip color needs to be pretty pigmented to cover my lips without a lip concealer.

That being said, let’s move on to the neutral shade.

LS10 Nude Narcissus

Well, I think I accidentally found my skin tone! It’s pretty random that this lipstick matches my skin better than most of the foundations I’ve tried.

Maybe I should just wear this on my face! Good idea, right? ^_^

I think it definitely looks prettier in the tube than on my lips. Seriously though, I’m still really surprised at how much it looks like my skin color!

Honestly, I don’t have too much use for nude lipsticks. I only do heavy eye makeup every once in a blue moon.

LS11 Morning Glory

Remember what I said about similar colors? Yeah, this looks a lot like the Nude Narcissus. I really wasn’t expecting this because the color at the bottom of the tube is so different.

I was expecting and almost lilac shade, but instead I got this!

Sooooo I’m not into the pale pink, I think. Not good for the warm skin tones!

LS15 Tulips 2 Kiss You

Now this one is completely different from the other two! This is so bright and pretty! It’s definitely a Barbie pink color.

One day, I will perfect this wink without looking like a crazy person ;). I have wonderfully mature life goals *giggle.*

Look at how pretty this color is!

I will say that this seems to be one of those colors where you actually need to wear real foundation. I’m only wearing a really sheer bb cream in these.

I seriously cannot be bothered with real foundation during the work week. ∩(︶▽︶)∩

I don’t think I like these as much as the matte kiss sticks. It’s probably because I love the bright colors of the other line, but the fact that these are actually moisturizing still cannot beat the others.

What can I say, I am still a kid who loves brilliant colors (─‿‿─).

What do you think of these? Would you wear any of these colors?

Random side note:

I’m pretty sure the Barbie pink color brings out the green in my lenses! BONUS! ❤

Plus Size Fashion: Child’s Play and High Waisted Happiness

Hello beautiful people! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

I think this is my absolute favorite outfit that I’ve worn in years! This is what I really love about fashion. When I find something I love, it sets the whole tone for my day. My mood could not be any brighter!

And all I needed was a pretty peach skirt ;).

Where did I buy this bundle of happiness?

The crop top and shoes I got from Plato’s Closet! ❤

I got the skirt from Rue 21. They were having a massive sale and I got it for only $3!!!

The head band is some of the spoil from my obsession with Ebay Can’t beat $0.99 with free shipping!

When I picked my younger sister’s up from school, they laughed at me and said I looked like a high schooler.

So what did I do?

Insist on taking pictures on the playground!

I really don’t know what I love so much about this outfit. Maybe it’s the bow, the polka dots, or maybe the “neon” skirt as my sister so lovingly pointed out.

It might be because I’m breaking several of the “big girl rules.”

“Don’t wear bright colors! It will only bring attention to your body.”

“Don’t show off your legs! They aren’t toned enough.”

“White will only make you look bigger!”

If you are plus-size, I’m sure you’ve heard these things from other people or even told them to yourself at some point.

Over the years, I’ve learned that I can’t control what people think about me. I might as well wear what I want and allow myself to be as happy and bright as I want to be!

If that bothers anyone, they can find themselves a nice pair of sunglasses! (~ ̄▽ ̄)~

Keep hanging, my beautiful friends!

Have an awesome day! ❤

15 Things I Won’t Wear Tag

Good afternoon Lovelies!

I was tagged maaany~~~ moons ago by Kristi at Kristi Encounters to do the 15 Things I Won’t Wear Tag!

If you wear some of these, I do not mean this as a jab. If you dislike some as well…Welcome to the club :).

All of the pictures come from Polyvore. Thank God for Polyvore!

1. Camouflage. Seriously, I cannot. I’m sure it can look really stylish under certain circumstances, but I just can’t get over my dislike of this pattern.

It probably has to do with my general disdain for hunting and growing up in the deep South.

unnamed (1)

2. Purses with the monogrammed letters ALL OVER THE PLACE! I can deal with a logo on my bag. But please don’t turn it into a pattern. I love the design on most of these at least?

unnamed (2)

3. Now, peplum…I love the design element of this style. Well, except for on that skirt. That’s just crazy.

My problem is that I reaaaaally don’t feel comfortable in these with my body type. Not at all.

unnamed (5)

4. Again, it’s a comfort thing right along with the next one:unnamed (6)

5. I like the skirt. Does that make it better?

unnamed (3)

6. Tribal. Oh, “tribal” patterns. Without getting horribly ranty, I seriously dislike this fashion trend. Growing up with my cousins on a Cherokee reservation and going to gatherings….this just doesn’t sit well with me. Like at all.

unnamed (4)

7. Anything made out of duct tape. I have just one word for how I feel about this. HOT! And we’re actually talking about temperature here lol. 😉

8. I’m all for the new socks and heels trend, but this…NOPE! ^_^

unnamed (7)

9. I like color blocking, but these two colors make my eyes hurt. It’s almost like staring at the sun!

unnamed (8)

10. They say these are supposed to make your legs look longer. I just feel like a spy with weapons attached to my feet ;).

unnamed (9)

11. If only I were tall enough to wear midi skirts!

unnamed (10)

12. Now, this I’m actually flexible about. If I try this one day and I look fabulous, I might just wear it to Wal-Mart to scare a few people while I get groceries :D.

unnamed (12)

13. The jury is still out on Kimono jacket/tops. I’m not sure how I feel about them. They do give a nice bohemian feel though?

unnamed (13)14. I DO know how I feel about fringe! I think it can definitely be cute, but sometimes its just a bit too funky for me. And sometimes it makes causes the same feelings as the tribal patterns.

unnamed (11)

15. I know this is crazy, but I have never been comfortable in blue jeans! They feel funny!

Wow, this post turned out to be really colorful! That I definitely like ;).

I’m tagging:

A Vibrant Day

Flutter Hearts

I am Zann

Ello Kelsey

Have an awesome day! ❤

*blows kisses*

Excuse the spazz. I’ve been bouncing around my office all day.

Happy days for everyone! ^_^
